Lip Enhancement - FAQs
Does it hurt?
The lips are a very sensitive area of your body, so a short lasting local anaesthetic is given to you before the procedure commences.
How much swelling will I have?
As the lips are a sensitive area, there will be some degree of swelling. The amount of swelling depends on the type and amount of product used and your own individual response to the treatment. Swelling usually disappears within a couple of days. At your consultation, once you have been assessed and your treatment chosen, swelling will be discussed with you.
Will I be able to kiss?
Kissing should be avoided for the first couple of days to allow your lips to “settle”. After this time, you can resume your normal activities without any problems. People who have had this treatment report that it does not affect kissing in any way.
Which product is best for me?
The products we use are all crystal clear gels made from a 100% biodegradable sugar-based compound called hyaluronic acid. Hyaluronic acid is a naturally occurring substance in our bodies, so it assimilates well with our tissues. There are different formulations available that have different properties, so the product best suited for the results you want to achieve will be selected and discussed with you before treatment.
How long will it last?
Our bodies break down lip enhancement products in around 12 months. Most people come back for a top-up approximately 6-9 months after their first treatment.
